Verity for startups

You are building fast. Verity keeps the cash, the cap table and the commitments from getting away from you.

A startup runs on a short runway and a long list of promises: to investors, customers, hires and the regulator. Cash numbers live in the bank app, equity in a spreadsheet, hiring in chats and compliance dates in the founders' heads. Verity puts them in one place so a small team can see what needs attention this week.

Verity in one line

One system that shows how many months of cash you really have, who owes you an update, who is joining, what the cap table says and which filing is due.

Free: we set up a working demo of your own business, on your own data, within 7 days. You pay only if your team decides to use it.

Built for a team of three to fifty with no operations manager. The records come from the work the founders already do.

How it runs today

Most startups track their product closely and everything else loosely.

The product has a roadmap and a tracker. The company around it, meaning cash, investors, hiring, equity and compliance, runs on a founder's spreadsheet and a calendar.

Runway gets calculated the quick way. A consultancy that works with startups before fundraising reports that in more than half of its engagements the runway founders quoted was 2 to 4 months shorter than they believed, because burn was taken from the profit and loss rather than the bank, and dues were left out.

Funding is tighter than a few years ago. Startup funding in India fell 9.4 percent to USD 11.4 billion in 2025, and deals fell to 1,826, nearly half the 2022 peak, so a longer runway and cleaner records are worth more.

What most startups run on

  • Bank app and a cash spreadsheet
  • Cap table spreadsheet
  • Task tool for product and chat for everything else
  • Email with investors
  • Founders' calendars

Each piece is fine alone. None of them answers the questions an investor, an auditor or a new hire will ask in the same week.

14 problems, one by one

Where a startup loses time, cash and trust.

These are the situations founders describe. For each one: what it looks like, what it costs, and what Verity does about it.

  1. 01Cash

    Runway is a guess

    What it looks like

The founder says "we have eight months". The bank balance is real, but dues due next month, a pending refund and a salary raise are not in the number.

    What it costs you

A consultancy that works with startups reports that founders overstate runway by 2 to 4 months in more than half of its pre-raise engagements. Starting a raise with too little time is expensive.

    How Verity fixes it

Cash, committed outflows and expected receipts sit in one view. Verity shows gross burn, net burn and runway with the assumptions listed, so the number can be argued with.

    See the screen
  2. 02Cash

Spend is scattered across cards, vendors and subscriptions

    What it looks like

Six tools are paid on three cards. Nobody knows who uses which, and two subscriptions renewed for people who left.

    What it costs you

A few thousand rupees a month leaking for months, and a founder who cannot say what the company spends on tools.

    How Verity fixes it

Each recurring spend is a record with an owner, a renewal date and a use. Verity lists renewals coming up and spend with no clear owner.

    See the screen
  3. 03Cash

The cash forecast is rebuilt by hand

    What it looks like

Before a board call, someone builds a forecast from the bank statement, invoices sent and a payment calendar. It is out of date by the next week.

    What it costs you

Hours of founder time and decisions on stale numbers. Funding is harder to find than in earlier years, and total startup funding fell 9.4 percent in 2025.

    How Verity fixes it

Receivables, payables, salaries and known costs flow into one forecast. When something changes, the forecast does too.

    See the screen
  4. 04Investors

Investor updates are written in a rush

    What it looks like

A monthly update goes out three weeks late. The numbers come from five places and differ by who compiled them.

    What it costs you

Investors who feel uninformed, fewer introductions and a harder next round.

    How Verity fixes it

Key numbers, wins, asks and risks are recorded as the month goes on. Verity assembles the update from the records and shows who owes what.

    See the screen
  5. 05Investors

The fundraising pipeline lives in an inbox

    What it looks like

Twenty conversations are in progress. Some need a data room, some a follow-up, some have gone quiet. Nobody knows who last spoke to whom.

    What it costs you

A raise that drifts and a warm lead that cools because nobody replied in a week.

    How Verity fixes it

Each investor is a record with the last contact, next step, documents shared and an owner. Verity lists conversations with no activity and the documents each investor has seen.

    See the screen
  6. 06Equity

The cap table and ESOP records are a spreadsheet

    What it looks like

The cap table is one file, with versions by date. An employee asks about their vesting and the answer takes two days.

    What it costs you

Errors that a lawyer or investor finds during diligence, and employees who do not trust the numbers.

    How Verity fixes it

Holders, grants, vesting schedules and exercise dates are records with history. Verity shows who vests when and keeps a trail of every change.

    See the screen
  7. 07People

    Hiring is run from chats

    What it looks like

Four roles are open. Candidates are in different folders, interviews are scheduled in messages and an offer waits for approval for a week.

    What it costs you

Good candidates who accept elsewhere, and founders spending nights on coordination. Hiring good talent is a lasting challenge for startups in a 2025 investor outlook report.

    How Verity fixes it

Each role has a pipeline with candidates, interview steps, owners and decisions. An offer is a record with approvals. A new joiner has a checklist for accounts, equipment and first tasks.

    See the screen
  8. 08Team

Decisions and owners disappear after meetings

    What it looks like

A founder meeting agrees five actions. A week later two are done, one is forgotten and two have no owner.

    What it costs you

Slow execution and repeated discussions. A small team cannot afford to decide the same thing twice.

    How Verity fixes it

Decisions and actions are records with an owner and a date. Verity shows what is open by person and which actions are overdue.

    See the screen
  9. 09Customers

    Early customers and pilots stall

    What it looks like

Three pilots started in the last quarter. One is waiting for a contact on the customer's side, one for a security review and one has no next step.

    What it costs you

Pilots that fade without a decision, and revenue that was expected and never arrives.

    How Verity fixes it

Each pilot is a record with the customer, owner, success criteria, dates and next step. Verity lists pilots with no activity and shows the revenue they are expected to bring.

    See the screen
  10. 10Compliance

Compliance dates are remembered, not tracked

    What it looks like

Director KYC, annual filings, tax payments and payroll-related dues each have dates. They are in a calendar that two people see.

    What it costs you

Late fees, a disrupted fundraise because filings are not clean, and diligence questions that start with "can you show us".

    How Verity fixes it

Each filing and payment is a task with an owner, a due date and a document. Verity lists what is due this month and what has been done. Your accountant and company secretary still prepare and file.

    See the screen
  11. 11Records

    Contracts and documents are scattered

    What it looks like

Offer letters, NDAs, vendor contracts, the shareholders' agreement and board resolutions sit in several drives and inboxes.

    What it costs you

Hours of searching during diligence and the risk of signing something that conflicts with an earlier agreement.

    How Verity fixes it

Documents are records linked to the person, company or deal they concern, with dates and owners. Verity keeps versions, and access is by role.

    See the screen
  12. 12Investors

Board and advisor commitments are not followed up

    What it looks like

An advisor offers three introductions and a board member asks for a plan. Nobody writes down who will do what by when.

    What it costs you

Help that is offered and never used, and board members who feel unheard.

    How Verity fixes it

Asks and offers from board members and advisors are recorded with an owner and a date. Verity lists open items and shows what has been delivered.

    See the screen
  13. 13Team

Knowledge sits with one founder or one engineer

    What it looks like

One person knows how billing works, another knows the customer promises. When either is out, nothing moves.

    What it costs you

A single point of failure and an expensive handover when someone leaves.

    How Verity fixes it

Responsibilities, processes and key accounts are recorded against people with a named back-up. Verity shows tasks that depend on one person only.

    See the screen
  14. 14Compliance

Grants, programs and recognition carry reporting duties

    What it looks like

The startup has recognition or a grant. Utilisation reports and annual statements are due, and nobody remembers what was promised.

    What it costs you

Funds clawed back or benefits lost for missing paperwork. After recognition, annual maintenance and fund-utilisation compliance continue.

    How Verity fixes it

Each grant or programme is a record with its conditions, due reports and spend against the plan. Verity reminds ahead of dates and keeps the evidence attached.

How we work with you

We set it up with you, in four weeks.

You do not get a login and a manual. We learn how your company actually runs, build Verity around it, bring your data in, then stay on to keep it working.

  1. Week 1

    Discovery and mapping

    What we do
Spend a day with the founders and whoever handles operations. Map how cash, investors, hiring, equity and compliance are tracked today, and which tools you already use.
    What we need from you
A few hours from each founder. Your latest cash sheet, cap table, hiring list and compliance calendar.
What you have at the end
A written map of how the company runs behind the product and the problems to fix first.
  2. Weeks 2 to 3

    Configuration

    What we do
Set up the cash and burn view, recurring spend, investor pipeline, hiring stages, equity records, compliance calendar, owners and approvals.
    What we need from you
Check the runway assumptions, approvals and calendar with the person who handles finance.
What you have at the end
A working Verity with your real numbers and rules.
  3. Weeks 3 to 4

    Migration and training

    What we do
Bring in cash and spend data, investors, open roles and candidates, cap table and documents. Train the founders and team leads on live items.
    What we need from you
Your sheets and folders, in whatever form they exist. One hour per role.
What you have at the end
Your company inside Verity and a team that has used it for a real week.
  4. After go-live

    Operations partnership

    What we do
Stay on after launch. Review the first weeks with you, tune lists and reminders and handle a new round, new hires and new entities.
    What we need from you
A short monthly review of what the numbers say.
What you have at the end
A system that keeps matching how the company runs, with someone responsible for it.

Bring these on day one

  • Bank balance, recent statements and recurring costs
  • Your cap table and grants
  • Your investor and advisor list
  • Open roles and candidates
  • Your filing calendar and key documents

Your time

About 6 to 9 hours of owner time across the four weeks, mostly in week 1. Whoever handles operations needs a few more.

After go-live

Nobody is hired to run Verity. Spend, hiring and commitments are recorded as part of the work you already do, and the reports come from those records.

Verity AI

Ask your company a question.

Verity AI reads your cash, spend, investors, hiring, equity and compliance records. Ask in plain language, then turn the answer into tasks for the right person.

Rules and paperwork

The rules a startup has to keep up with.

Verity does not give legal, tax or financial advice and does not file anything for you. It keeps the records these rules depend on in order, so your accountant and company secretary start from clean data.

  • Annual compliance after recognition

    What is expected

Recognition as a startup does not remove annual filings and, where a grant or benefit applies, fund-utilisation reporting. Missing them can lead to lost benefits or penalties.

    How Verity helps

Each filing and report is a task with an owner and a due date, with the supporting documents attached.

    Patron Accounting on DPIIT recognition

  • Employee stock options

    What is expected

Recognised startups can defer tax and TDS on the ESOP perquisite under Section 192(1C) until the earliest of five years, sale of the shares or the employee leaving. Records of grants, vesting and exercise matter.

    How Verity helps

Grants, vesting schedules and exercises are records with history, so your accountant has what they need.

    Patron Accounting

  • Investment and tax position

    What is expected

Angel tax under Section 56(2)(viib) was abolished with effect from FY 2025-26 for all classes of investors, according to one consultancy page, so older guides that describe an exemption may be out of date.

    How Verity helps

Funding rounds, investor details and share issues are recorded together, so your advisers can check the position.

    Patron Accounting

  • Personal data of customers and staff

    What is expected

India's data protection rules were notified in November 2025, and most duties start to apply over the following 12 to 18 months.

    How Verity helps

Customer, candidate and employee data sits in one permissioned place, with who viewed or changed it recorded.

    AZB Partners

Rules, benefits and deadlines change and differ by company type and state. Confirm current requirements with your accountant, company secretary and lawyer.

Who sees what

Everyone sees the same records, through their own window.

A new hire should not see the cap table. An advisor should not see salaries. Each role opens on what it needs.

  • Founder or CEO

Are we on track and what needs me?

Runway, pilots, investor pipeline, hiring, equity, filings and overdue actions.

  • Finance or operations lead

What is due and what do we owe?

Cash forecast, recurring spend, filings, payments, documents and programme reports.

  • Team lead

What is on my team's plate?

Actions and owners, hiring steps, onboarding checklists and meeting decisions.

  • Hiring manager

    Where is each candidate?

Role pipelines, interview steps, offers waiting and joiners' checklists.

  • Advisor or investor

What have we been told and asked?

Updates received, asks and offers, and the documents shared with them.

Questions

Questions founders ask.

We are only five people. Is this too much?

A small team has the same commitments and fewer people to remember them. We set up only what you need, such as runway, investors, hiring and filings, and add more as you grow.

We already use a task tool for the product. Why add this?

Keep it. Verity covers the company around the product: cash, investors, hiring, equity, compliance and commitments. We agree during setup what stays in your product tool.

Does it connect to my bank?

Not directly. Cash and spend are recorded by your team or brought in from your statements, and we agree during setup how that works. Verity does not move money.

Can it write my investor update?

It drafts from the records you have kept during the month, such as numbers, wins, asks and risks, and you edit and send it. It does not send updates itself.

Can it manage my cap table and ESOP?

It keeps holders, grants and vesting as records with history. Legal documents and filings stay with your lawyer and company secretary.

Does it do payroll?

No. It records people, roles and hiring. Salaries are paid by your payroll process, and your accountant stays responsible.

Who can see sensitive information?

Only the people you allow. Access is set by role, and every change is recorded with who made it and when.

How long before I see results?

The runway view, overdue actions and filing list need only your existing records, so they are the first things we aim to have working. Investor and hiring trends need a few weeks of use.

What does it cost?

It depends on the number of users and what you want set up. Message us and we will give you a clear number after a short conversation about how your company runs.
